Product Description

Sea Water Scrubber

The Krystallon Sea Water scrubber is manufactured from high nickel chrome alloy steels specifically developed for the application. It fits into the funnel space being both lightweight and self supporting. The scrubber is designed to run cool, operating on sea water. Under emergency conditions it can be operated at temperatures up to 450°C. It provides for silencing of the exhaust noise. Scrubber can be designed to remove 100% of SO2 and 80% of particulates when operated on a 3.5% S fuel.

Wash Water Treatment System

Wash water treatment system will handle the full scrubber water flow. It is designed to remove both the solid particulate and liquid hydrocarbon waste products. A very efficient design reduces contamination to levels measured in part per billion. All materials are manufactured from corrosion proof glass reinforced epoxy.

Continuous Monitoring System

Krystallon have monitoring system designs unique in the industry for this application. Gases of NOx, SOx and CO2 are measured by quantum cascade laser based detectors providing for many hundreds of measurements every second in a small and highly stable design. Wash water discharge is monitored for hydrocarbons, turbidity and pH. The florourimeter based hydrocarbon detector is again unique to Krystallon being able to reliably record levels from 0-1,000ppb, (parts per billion).

Sea Water Supply system

All sea water pipes are manufactured from glass reinforced epoxy. This provides the features of corrosion resistance, low flow losses, light weight and ease of installation. For this purpose Krystallon have teamed with leading pipe supplier, Ameron assuring both products uniquely developed for the application and world wide availability.

Technical Backup

Krystallon have the first commercial application of sea water scrubbing in our portfolio. We also have the largest now operating on mv Zaandam and designs for all sizes in between. Our system has now (June 2007) completed over 10,000 hours of reliable operation. We are regularly consulted by environmental bodies, NGO, government representatives and IMO on Sea Water Scrubbing and all associated matters. In essence, if you want a company with the most in depth knowledge of sea water scrubbing, ongoing R&D to extend and improve the technology and the respect of the industry then you need look no further than Krystallon.
